Nettleton Hollow was launched in March 2005 by Justin Brandreth Potter. The inspiration for the business came when he started shopping online for decorative branches and other lasting botanicals to decorate his first apartment. Although he found a few sites focused on selling these items as craft and floral supplies, he didn't find any that really concentrated on providing the high-quality finished products he was looking for. Nettleton Hollow was conceived to fill this void.

Nettleton Hollow has been featured in numerous magazines and blogs. In 2008, Nettleton Hollow was featured on DailyCandy and was nominated as one of its "Sweetest Things" for the year.
